Apple Trees

Certainly wish now that we could remember the year that Stephanie chose and she & Corey planted this flowering crab-apple tree.

This may be its most magnificent year! When I looked closely into it, discovered that even the small 1/2" spurs that are irrupting from the main trunk have clusters of buds on them. It's shape has developed into a perfect specimen. And right now at this age many of its flowers are right at eye level. While many tower above a person up in its canopy.

What a lovely sight!  And as yet only the first one or two buds in each cluster have begun to open.

Each and every bud is slightly different from the other. When you casually look at this tree it appears to be merely a white flowering crab-apple tree. But when you look closely at the buds, you notice that each has some petals on the outermost portion that have a pink or rosy color to them. And the closer you are to the tree the more you see the pink undertones.

However, when the bud opens the color is on the back side of the flower and so it appears to be a white blossom.

Who would ever guess from looking at these buds that these would be white and not pink blossoms?

Mother Nature has decided that every blossom on this tree will have its own distinct personality!
