Discovered this fall surprise on the E side of an old snag.

This is a red oak tree that Steve was persuaded to leave standing.

The bottom 12 feet remain.

While it may look odd in our yard, it’s used constantly by Nuthatches & Chickadees.

And just last week a Brown Creeper was foraging there.
